Equinox Trailers come with wheel options at the time of purchase. You have a choice between no wheels, hand-built wheels with pneumatic tires, and hand-built wheels with solid urethane tires. We offer this option as another way to help you customized your trailer to fit your specific needs. Often people who buy a trailer without wheels is either cost conscious or have specific desires or needs. In either case you can fit your custom or recycled, front (110mm) and/or rear wheels (130-135mm), from 16" to 700c, into our reversible dropouts. The dropouts may be mounted above or below the frame giving a wide range of adjustment to the height of the frame above the travel surface.

We highly recommend using hand-built wheels. Low quality machine built wheels significantly reduce the quality and strength that is a significant benefit to our design. Wether the wheel is built from Equinox Trailers or not you should have a 1/2" dish to set the wheels outboard in relation to the hub. This increases the footprint which helps with stability.


No-Wheel Option:
We include our standard reversible dropouts as a means using your own wheel-set.


Hand Built Wheels with Pneumatic Tires:
We custom build our wheels with a 3-X, allow rim. A 1/2" dish is incorporated in the building process. This gives multiple advantages of which include: increased trailer stability and additional cargo space.


Hand Built Wheels with Urethane Tires:
We use the same hand built wheel but replace the pneumatic tire and tube with a solid urethane tire. This gives the added advantage of never having to deal with flats cause by glass, nails, razors, etc. The disadvantage is that they are difficult to un/install, increase rotating weight, and deliver a slightly more bumpier ride.
